Meet Shaveen De Mel!
He recently graduated from TMU’s biology program and has gained international recognition for his original research. His work was published this past July in Nature Scientific Reports — a prominent peer-reviewed journal — and featured on the National Institutes of Health website for its innovative contributions.
In doing this research, De Mel became the first TMU biology student to lead original experimental research from beginning to end, as a primary author, in under two years. While he was still a student, his research won awards at the 46th and 47th Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conferences.
De Mel is grateful for his time as a student researcher at TMU and shared, “My experience at The Master’s University equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to undertake meaningful research that positively contributes to society, ultimately glorifying and honoring the Lord.”

The Think Biblically Conference brought students, professionals, and lifelong learners to TMU for a one-day event exploring how biblical thinking shapes every area of life — from science and business to culture. Featuring lectures from Drs. Abner Chou, Matthew McLain, Tai-Danae Bradley, Dwight Ham, and Grant Horner, the conference offered glimpses into a wide range of disciplines, all rooted in a biblical worldview. Through thought-provoking talks and meaningful conversations, we pray attendees were challenged and equipped to think more clearly and faithfully about the world around them. Through TMU’s Global Outreach Trips, students have the opportunity to partner with local believers to make the gospel known around the world. These trips allow students to witness how God is working in diverse contexts and to grow in their understanding of the unity we share as one body in Christ.

Recipients of this scholarship pay zero tuition. This unique scholarship, which honors Dr. John P. Stead, combines all existing financial aid a student receives and then supplements the remaining amount to offer a full tuition scholarship. Five scholarships are awarded each year.
Over the past year, students were awarded more than $30 million in financial aid. Recent surveys have shown that 42% of our students graduated entirely debt-free.
This most competitive scholarship is awarded to full-time incoming freshmen who achieve a weighted high school GPA of 4.00 or higher and an SAT I (or equivalent) score of 1350+. It awards over $80,000 across four years.
The Red & Blue scholarship is funded for students dependent on parent/s currently working full-time in law enforcement or fire departments.
